Position
Summary
Operate
drilling rigs and supervise drill crews.
Essential
Functions
·
Operate all equipment at the Driller’s console
and on the rig floor in a safe manner and maintain a clean, organized, and
hazard free condition on the drill floor and associated area.
·
Supervise the assembly, disassembly, and
storage of all blowout prevention equipment as required by the well plan and
instructed by the Toolpusher or Tourpusher.
·
Monitor the well condition at all times (i.e.
depth, mud weight, weight on bit, possible deviation from course et cetera).
Interpret and respond to downhole conditions.
·
Review all available well planning
documentation available on the rig.
·
Perform drilling operations as instructed by
the Toolpusher, Customer Representative, Tourpusher.
·
Confirm reporting on drill fluid conditions by
assigned personnel.
·
Maintain accurate record of down hole tool
dimensions and identification numbers.
·
Inform Tooolpusher, Tourpusher, and customer
Representative if a deviation from planned operation occurs.
·
Keep accurate records of fluid displacement
when tubular are run In/pulled out of hole.
·
Complete the IADC daily drilling report at the
end of each tour.
·
Hold pre-job meeting with the drilling crew
for all non-routine drilling operations.
·
Secure the well during an emergency or well
control situation – assist in the well killing operations.
·
Supervise the lubrication and maintenance of
all drilling and associated equipment and ensure it is carried out in
accordance to the Preventive maintenance System.
·
Maintain equipment files, drilling logs and
records – perform all technical calculations required to carry out drilling
operations.
·
Assist in the planning, organization and
supervision of rig, move operations.
Minimum
Education and Skill Requirements
·
High school diploma or equivalent. Work
experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be
substituted in lieu of formal education.
·
Valid Well Control and Drilling Technology
certificates, and other Safety or Training Courses (regulatory and company
required).
·
Knowledge of all technical calculations
required for the safe operation of the drilling unit assigned and basic
computer skills.
·
Ability to stand and operate a drilling rig
for up to 12 hours with 30 minutes of meal
·
Ability to ascent or descend up to 40 flights
of 10 stairs in a 12 hour period.
Physical
Requirements
·
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force
occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10
pounds of force constantly to move objects.
·
Ascending or descending ladders, stairs,
scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and
arms. Body agility is emphasized.
·
Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling,
reaching, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling are required frequently.
Requires lifting and substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
· Expressing
or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Ability to receive detailed
information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in
sound.
